Population

The city has an estimated population of 681,130 individuals, based on statistics from the 2018 census and details provided by the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Area. 52.5% of the population are women and 47.5% of inhabitants are men. There are 3.6 persons on average living in each home. Ten years old or younger make up 16.6% of the population. In the city, 46.3% of cohabiting couples were single, 26.7% were married, 5.8% were divorced, and 4.6% were widowed. 9.2% and 0.3%, respectively, of the resident population over the age of four are from another municipality and foreign-born. In the city, 39% of residents live in houses, compared to 56.7% who live in apartments and 4.3% who live in rented spaces of some sort.
