The Emerald Green: is located in the center of the Flag, indicating that agriculture and livestock are the central activities on which the economic structure of the municipality is based, and also represents hope for a better future. The Fiesta Red: symbolizes the happy, jovial and festive temperament of the planetaricences, it also represents the freedom of the people and the spirit of work and sacrifice of the residents of the municipality.  History

Planeta Rica is a Colombian municipality located in the Córdoba Department .It located south east of the department of Córdoba, bordered to the north by the municipalities of Monteria, San Carlos and New Town; south with Montelíbano ; west with the municipalities of Monteria and Tierra Alta and east Buenavista and Pueblo Nuevo. Known as “The City Beautiful & Cordial”, has a population of about 66,000 inhabitants, is a cattle land with great economic boost from livestock auctions. It is believed that the history of Planeta Rica begins with peasant men ax and machete from savannas in the northern department of Cordoba, who moved by the news that there was a plain fertile mountains, woods full of trees thin rubber and where abounded cinchona and ipecacuanha ( ipecac ), recognized as medicinal plants. These riches and ambition generated an exploration into the southern mountains, arriving made clear in the mountains and built with local materials a camp near a water source they called “El Chorrillo”. It is believed that this could have occurred between 1883 and 1885.

The urban area alone is home to 41,267 residents, contributing to an urban density of 9,200/km2, while the overall population density stands at 57/km2. Known for its charm and hospitality, Planeta Rica is aptly nicknamed “The City Beautiful & Cordial.”
